The time I was talking about spread out from, let's say, the late sixties to the late seventies and the cars I saw back then were mainly from that era.
I still remember, so many years later, one of the cars that first impressed me when I was a kid: a cream colored Ford Galaxie Country Squire of the early sixties parked along a sidewalk of my birthplace. I still see clearly its woodenlike sides and its big round taillights. It had Canadian Forces license plates. Funny how some things seen almost fifty years ago stay intact in someone's memory.
To answer your question, the american cars of the forties were a little too old for me to see them in those days.
